Council releases report on traffic counting

The council has released its report, you can find the full report on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/4roadsdartmouthpark/

The good news is they agree they have a problem, more monitoring is needed still.

Summary of observations from the report:

• Spencer Rise, Churchill Road and York Rise have lower flows than the average for access roads.

• The flows for Chetwynd Road are higher than average and have a complex pattern: o The western section has higher flows than the eastern section for day and night, and across the week. o The eastern section has broadly similar flows to Oval Road, which had the highest volume of flows for an access road in the sample of streets surveyed in March 2014. o The western section has broadly similar flows to Oval Road for daytime Monday-Friday, but for all other periods has higher flows than Oval Road. o The western section has similar levels of daytime flows on Saturday as those on Monday-Friday. The Sunday flows are also high, higher than the average of access roads and more than those on Oval Road. o The night time flows are higher than the average for access roads, but broadly similar to (but higher) than Oval Road.

• All four streets have lower percentages of large vehicles than the average for access roads. For Chetwynd Road although the absolute numbers of large vehicles for any period is greater than those for the average for access roads, they are similar in magnitude to those observed on Oval Road.

• Although Chetwynd Road has higher flows than the other ‘four streets’ across the periods shown, these flows are much lower than observed in the other main roads in the area: Fortess Road, Highgate Road and Mansfield Road. The main roads also have much larger numbers of large vehicles than the four streets – in terms of absolute numbers and percentages of the flows.
